About the Institution

Howrah Zilla School was established on December 1, 1845. Initially known as Howrah Government School, Bhudev Mukhopadhyay later served as its first Indian headmaster. The institution celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2019, and its campus comprises six buildings, two of which are designated as heritage structures.
