Naogaon Zilla School was established in 1917, originating as a "Pathsahala" following funds raised for the coronation of King George V. In 1942, it was upgraded to a High English School. It was renamed United High School in 1961 after merging with BMC College's madrasah section and coronation high school. It adopted the name Naogaon Zila School in 1985 upon nationalization.
