Pabna Zilla School was initially established between 1836 and 1840 as an Anglo-Vernacular institution known as Hardinge School. Babu Digombor Saha founded the school. On November 1, 1853, the school transitioned into a government-funded public school and was officially renamed Pabna Zilla School. Its Muslim Boarding Hall opened in 1899 with funding from notable figures like the Nawab of Dhaka.
